In my pursuit of learning new ways to work with sterling silver, I explored casting molten metal into cuttlefish bone- choosing to shape the impression into mountains. What began as a simple mountain pendant evolved when inspiration struck: I placed the mountains atop a striking 52-carat Hardy Pit Kingman turquoise, allowing the landscape to rest against a vivid blue sky of stone.
A hand-tooled copper sun rises on the right, adding warmth and contrast, while a wide, thoughtfully designed bail accommodates beads up to 12 mm. This piece is both an experiment in technique and an expression of gratitude.
Isaiah 44:23 calls us to sing for joy, to look around, and to give thanks for all that God has created-the mountains, the sun, and the crystal-clear blue skies among them. These are the very elements that inspired this piece and remind me daily of the beauty we are blessed to witness.
